  • 115g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g light brown soft sugar
  • 1 teaspoon egg
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 225g crunchy peanut butter

  1. Beat the butter, caster sugar and brown soft sugar together until soft and creamy.
  2. Combine the egg, flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda and peanut butter.
  3. Add the butter and sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Wrap the dough in foil or wax paper and refrigerate for at LEAST 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 160 C / Gas 2 1/2.
  6. Shape the dough into 3cm balls and place then about 5cm apart on a baking tray. Flatten slightly with a fork.
  7. Bake until golden in colour, about 15 minutes.

Great way to get a peanut butter fix.-15 Feb 2012


Preheat the oven to 195ºC/175ºC fan.

Put the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well until combined. It should all come together into a ball of dough. If the mixture is still quite gooey (this depends on the type and temperature of your peanut butter), use a pair of teaspoons to complete the next step.

Take chunks of the dough and roll them into balls the size of a 50p piece. Place these on a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper, around 5cm apart. Use a fork to fl atten each ball of dough to around 1cm thick.

Bake for approximately 20 minutes (a few minutes less if you prefer them squidgy).

Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Tip: If you don’t have peanut butter to hand or want something that tastes a little less obviously nutty, try the cookies with almond or cashew butter instead. These won’t be as strongly fl avoured but will do the same job – buy the crunchy variety if you can get it.

Gus’ Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Preheat oven to 325 °F. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and peanut butter.

Paula’s note: as a general rule, most homemade dog biscuits do well with 1 part liquid to 3 parts dry. You can customize the recipe by adding and subtracting ingredients your dog likes.

Add in the flour and baking powder to make a very stiff dough, using your hands to work in the last of the flour if necessary.

Flour a work surface and roll out dough to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired sizes depending on the size of your dog.

Bake on a parchment-lined baking tray at 325 °F for approximately 20 minutes. Turn biscuits over and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Dog biscuits can also be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Lyn’s Peanut Biscuits

This old-fashioned biscuit recipe belongs to a friend&rsquos grandmother.

It&rsquos the perfect snack for afternoon tea &ndash thin, crisp and buttery with a bit of crunch. And while salted caramel has been a recent trend, this biscuit, which includes salted peanuts, proves that the combination of saltiness and sweetness is nothing new. It is undoubtedly delicious.

The flour measurements here appear in cups, as in the original recipe. I&rsquom breaking my rule of quantifying flour by weight, and I do this in memory of all the cooks who have made these biscuits over the 100 years since this recipe was handed down.

Makes: 15 biscuits


  • 80g butter
  • 1/2 cup castor sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts
  • 1&frasl4 cup plain flour
  • 1&frasl4 cup self-raising flour

Preheat the oven to 180ºC (160ºC, if fan-forced). Line two baking trays with baking paper.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from the heat and beat in the sugar, egg and nuts with a wooden spoon. Sift in the two types of flour and mix thoroughly.

Roll the mixture into walnut-sized balls and put on the trays, leaving room for the biscuits to spread. Flatten gently with a fork and bake for 12 minutes or until golden. Repeat with the remaining mixture, if necessary.

Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.

Peanut Butter

I made these biscuits with Whole Earth Crunchy Peanut Butter as this was what I had in the cupboard. I would recommend using crunchy peanut butter but the brand is irrelevant. The only thing I would check is how much sugar is already in your peanut butter. Whole Earth has no added sugar whereas some brands do have some – such as Sun Pat

I only say this as you may want to experiment with the volume of sugar you add. I am trying to cut down my sugar consumption so only added a relatively small amount. I would even risk trying it without any – or perhaps just a spoonful!

Without the sugar, Peanut Butter is a healthy food when eaten in moderation

Best of Breed Dog Biscuits

Whether or not you have a vegetarian dog, these non-meat biscuits will be snapped up — literally! The recipe comes courtesy of King Arthur friend Elaine Aukstikalnis, who works in a veterinary office Elaine regularly bakes these biscuits (which have been "vetted by the vet") to bring to work for "the patients."


  • 2 cups (227g) King Arthur White Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup (89g) rolled oats, old-fashioned or quick-cooking
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup (56g) Baker's Special Dry Milk or nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (269g) peanut butter, crunchy or plain
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon (128g) cold water, enough to make a cohesive dough


Preheat the oven to 300°F. Lightly grease a couple of baking sheets, or line them with parchment.

Mix together the flour, oats, parsley, dried milk, and salt.

Add the eggs and peanut butter, stirring to combine the mixture will be crumbly.

Add enough water to bring the dough together depending on the season, you may need to add a bit more (winter), or a bit less (summer).

To make biscuits using a dog-bone cutter, roll the dough about 1/4" thick, and cut with a 3 1/2" cutter (or the size of your choice). Gather and re-roll the scraps, and continue to cut biscuits until you've used all the dough.

To make dog "cookies," drop the dough in walnut-sized balls onto the prepared baking sheets. Flatten them to about 1/4".

Bake the biscuits for about 40 to 60 minutes, baking the smaller cookies for a shorter amount of time. When finished, the biscuits will be dark golden brown, and will be dry and crisp all the way through.

How To Make Peanut Butter and Coconut Homemade Dog Biscuits

As strange as it feels, it was also a time of celebration………it was Callye’s third birthday, and Allison wanted to make homemade dog biscuit treats (yes we celebrate dog birthdays. pathetic family see above). Pepper never wanted to be the center of attention, she would have totally been ok with Callye taking the spotlight.

Allison and Callye are quite the pair. I’m not sure who is going to have a harder time when she leaves for college next year. This little video I made of the two of them playing in the snow a few weeks ago, sums up their relationship perfectly.

The four-legged friends in our lives aren’t necessarily looking for the sweets that we indulge for birthdays and holidays, but their taste buds will thank you for these tail-wagging good, Peanut Butter and Coconut Dog Biscuits. Homemade dog biscuits are probably both cheaper and healthier than a lot that you’ll find in stores.

Anytime I’m in the kitchen these two are always underfoot, staring at me with those big eyes hoping I’ll share a few bites. I think they were pretty happy to find out this time the treats were for the birthday girl and her brother.

You can cut them any shape, your dogs won’t care! I already had a bone shaped cookie cutter, then we made a few X’s and heart O’s for our Valentine’s Day pooches!
